MRI for Prostate Cancer

MRI Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Dr Gianduzzo was a lead investigator at the Wesley Hospital in developing prostate MRI as a tool to diagnose prostate cancer. The research performed with colleagues at the Wesley Hospital and published in European Urology shows that an MRI scan can reduce the need for a prostate biopsy by around 50%. However, it is important that the MRI is performed at an experienced centre with the correct diagnostic techniques and that it is read by experienced clinicians. Having pioneered this technique, The Wesley Hospital has arguably the most experience in Queensland, if not Australia, in prostate MRI.
