About Dr Troy Gianduzzo
Dr Troy R.J. Gianduzzo MBBS FRACS (Urol) completed his general urological training in Brisbane in 2003. He then spent the next 3 1/2 years in the UK and the USA developing his expertise in the treatment of prostate cancer and other urological cancers.
In 2004 and 2005, mentored by Dr Christopher Eden, one of Europe's pioneering laparoscopic surgeons, Dr Gianduzzo undertook dedicated, sub-specialised fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) urology, focussing on laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, laparoscopic nephrectomy and laparoscopic pyeloplasty. Following this he underwent further training at St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth, UK, which is one of the leading urological oncology centres in the south-west of England where he undertook further training in urological oncology and stone disease.
Dr Gianduzzo was then personally invited by Professor Inderbir Gill, Chairman of the Glickman Urological Institute at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Ohio, USA, to take up a further fellowship position in minimally invasive urological surgery with a particular focus on laparoscopic and robotic radical prostatectomy and renal surgery. Professor Gill is an internationally recognized world leader in advanced laparoscopic urology and urological oncology, while the Cleveland Clinic Department of Urology is ranked as one of the top 2 urology departments in the United States with the Section of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Glickman Urological Institute considered one of the leading laparoscopic urology departments in the world.
Dr Gianduzzo has won a number of state, national and international prizes for research. He has published and presented a number of peer-reviewed articles and abstracts in international journals and at international scientific meetings and has also contributed to the authorship of urological texts. He has been a reviewer for the ANZ Journal of Surgery and has been appointed as faculty at meetings such as the World Congress of Endourology and SWL.
Dr Gianduzzo is now a visiting urologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and the Wesley Hospital and consults privately in his rooms at the Wesley Medical Centre and also at the Clara Street Specialist Centre in Wynnum. He has a special interest in prostate cancer, laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, prostate brachytherapy, advanced laparoscopic urology and urological cancers such as kidney cancer and bladder cancer. In addition he also continues to treat general urological conditions including benign prostate diseases, men's health, bladder dysfunction and stone disease.
